AN A’CAPELLA NEOSPIRITUAL
Written & Directed by Cristal Chanelle Truscott

It's 1940 in the fictional City of Antebellum. As the African American community prepares for the return of hometown hero Band Man to the local juke, the White community organizes its Annual Pilgrimage Pageant; a celebration of Southern hierarchy as it was "Before the War." Fast forward 75 years and post-Great Migration urban residents of Sittay gather to critique the policies and politics behind contemporary headlines at a hip hop spot. When disaster strikes in both spaces and places, all involved are forced to examine the meanings and intersections of race, gender, community, agency, identity and freedom.

Lucia di Lammermoor
By Gaetano Donizetti

Lose your mind for love. Star-crossed lovers from feuding families, an arranged marriage for political gain, an elder brother out to destroy his sister’s romance, and a murderous, psychotic bride. Is there anything Donizetti’s most popular work is missing? Did we mention that it has the most famous mad scene in all of opera? Come see and hear Lucia’s beautiful descent into madness. This thrilling and dramatic bel canto masterpiece is one of the best that Italian opera can offer and an experience you’ll never forget.

Understand Every Word: Sung in Italian with English texts projected above the stage.

Price Range $26.00 - $163.00
