Free!

Location:

300 Block on Bourbon Street

Here is a recipe for Roadfood ecstasy: Take about a thousand piping-hot oysters, expertly fried by the legendary Acme Oyster House and great French bread three city blocks long; add two dozen of New Orleans' best chefs and let them loose to each take a car-length section of the bread, plenty of those oysters, and whatever else they deem delicious and create 20 feet of the best po boy they can conceive. Variations range from classic to outlandish; and while judges give awards to the ones they prefer, the best thing about this event is that as soon as the world's longest po boy is constructed, it is cut into pieces that are offered free of charge to all attending.
