Seven restored 19th-century town houses surround one of the Quarter's prettiest courtyards, anchored by a spectacular fountain. Lush tropical greenery and palm trees provide a serene setting for meals and cocktails, and soft lighting and comfortable seating add to the courtyard’s attraction. Most rooms are fairly large, and some have balconies. For casual dining, the French Quarter Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Le Meritage, which locals consider a hidden gem, serves wine-centric cuisine at dinner from Tuesday through Saturday. The hotel is two blocks from Bourbon Street. Pros: close to the heart of the French Quarter; excellent hotel restaurant. Cons: guests should exercise caution when walking in the area late at night.
