New Year's in New Orleans
With so many events during and surrounding New Year’s Eve, it’s no surprise New Orleans is consistently ranked one of the best places to ring in the New Year.
Here’s a look at the events New Year’s week in New Orleans.

On New Year’s Day, we’re celebrating the Allstate Sugar Bowl! We’ll also feature specialty drinks for each team.
Crescent City Countdown
If mild temperatures, live music, fireworks over the river, and a Fleur de Lis drop at midnight sounds perfect, Crescent City Countdown is the place for you. The fun festivities kick off at 9:30 p.m. at the Decatur Street City Stage with a performance by Sam’s Funky Nation.
Allstate Sugar Bowl
This year it looks like a great college football game with Alabama taking on Oklahoma at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, January 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Beyond the game, there’s the Fan Fest on December 30 and 31 from Noon until 8 p.m. There will be live music and more!
Before the game, there’s the official tailgating with the Fan Jam in Champions Square. There will be food, games, music and appearances by both schools’ bands and cheerleaders.
And More
Beyond that, bars, clubs and music venues across the French Quarter, C.B.D. and Marigny have special evenings planned. Some require reservations, some have package deals including food and drink, all will make for great places to ring in the New Year.
