King Cake Festival For a Cause

Carnival season is in full swing in New Orleans, and it’s getting even hotter this weekend Sunday, January 25 with the second annual King Cake Festival. Festival-goers will spend the day strolling through Champion Square, where they’ll sample New Orleans best King Cakes from some of the finest bakers bar none.
Some of the bakeries participating this year include: Haydel’s Bakery, Mr. Ronnies Famous Hot Donuts, Gerald’s Donuts, Nonna Randazzo’s, Rue Chow, Thee Heavenly Baker, The Posh Baker, Loretta’s Authentic Pralines, Food Drunk Food Truck, Sugar Bear Sweet Shop, Sweet Savor’s, Cartozzo’s Baker, Thee Heavenly Donut, and Caluda’s.
The event, sponsored by Ochsner, benefits children and babies at Ochsner, a local non-profit health care system dedicated to serving our community. VIP Club XLIV tickets are $50 and feature open bar and unlimited food as well as a King Cake Milkshake courtesy Charcoal’s Gourmet Burger Bar.
The King Cake Festival also hosts a “Dough me” fitness challenge and fun run the morning of the festival. Participates can walk, skip, run, dance, or stroll around the Superdome during a timed half mile. Run, stroll, skip, or dance your way around the dome for our timed half mile fun run.
The family-friendly event wouldn’t be complete without a kid’s zone. Tickets are $10 each and include beverages. There will also be a cake walk, arts and crafts, a photo booth and more!
